I was thinking about the time it takes a person to learn something new, all the interruptions, leaving what you are learning behind and changing priorities during this period of time. Remember something important, the sun only burns when its focused on a fixed place, try to apply the same principle to what you are learning, focus and take it one step at the time. Life is too short, you have to make every second count, in this scenario just think, are you investing your time in something productive or just wasting it? Time to take action!
If a thought is going through your mind saying, "That´s impossible, nobody can learn that fast", are you sure about that? Peter Drucker says: "Don´t have disempowering beliefs", in the same path Tony Robbins says: "All change happens overnight", the future is now, and just think how you could revolutionize your life downloading knowledge and adding value to it! Only good things can come out of this adventure and remember you can achieve anything if you really want to!
With the access to new technologies and information systems at our fingertips, we all have the opportunity to learn whatever we want, and much faster than people in the past. Time flies by and so do opportunities, to take advantage of them be a quick learner as they come quickly and slip through your fingers if you are not prepared. In one of my favorite quotes related to this subject, Charlie Munger tells a story in which his grandfather told him: “Charlie, real opportunities that come to you are few; it’s a very fortunate life that is just bathed in opportunities all the way. Most people just get a few times where they can make a huge difference. When you find one of those and you clearly recognize it, seize it boldly and don’t do it small.” The clock is ticking, take advantage of each second, invest your time wisely!!
The business world moves really fast, Seth Godin wrote in the Purple Cow: “In the competitive world things only last for a couple of years; the person who is able to learn quickly is ahead.” After this being said, it's time to pick up the pace and putting all the pieces of the puzzle into its place, take action now and the future will open up to you. Have an open mind, and remember that you can learn from anyone, but you have to be picky who you select to learn from, look for the best authors in the subjects you are interested in and download their experience into your life, adapt, learn, evolve and try to apply those principles and practice them, be humble as those great scientist from our past, Sir Isaac Newton said:“It’s not that I am great, I am standing on the shoulders of giants.” After reading this just ask yourself, are you standing on the shoulder of giants, if not start looking for them so you can look further and reach beyond your imagination, your future depends on the actions you take today?
At this point, make sure you have a habit, every morning while having breakfast read from the best (at least a book a week), if you are checking your emails, listen to the best in the background, and if you are planning to be an entrepreneur look for someone that has 10-20 years of experience doing business and simply ask what they did, and what specific things they learned to get where they are, cut the learning curve and apply what Warren Buffet says: “We all learn from mistakes, but it's a lot easier to learn from other people’s mistakes.” Remember life is the result of the decisions you take, and now it's time to take action and work on your future, don´t be scared, get out of your comfort zone, become an expert in the subject or activities you are passionate about, just as Steve Martin says: "Be so good they can´t ignore you."
Just as Steve Jobs said: "Stay hungry, stay foolish" apply that principle every day and out of curiosity you will find knowledge, be consistent, don´t give up and learn from the best, people that have made it, this will help cut the learning curve, enjoy the trip, Go For It!!
